Functional food

What is functional food?

Functional food is a group of foods that can be consumed as part of our usual diet, but that have documented health effects. Accordingly, products in pill or powder form are therefore not classed as functional foods.

The term functional foods is an unregulated concept and is started to be replaced by the concept of “food with health claims”.

At Lantmännen we also have food for specific medical purposes - SPC-Flakes and Salovum.

Havre har ett karaktäristiskt utseende och är det sädesslag som är lättast att känna igen då det inte samlat ax, utan blommar i en vippa med småax.

Oat bran and rolled oats

Oat bran and rolled oats for example, can be viewed as functional foods, with good fibre and proteins that are beneficial for your health.
