Lantmännen Unibake has evaluated the efficiency of its bakery footprint and decided to close three bakeries in Europe.
To strengthen the European footprint, optimize production capacity and ensure competitiveness, Lantmännen Unibake has decided to close its bakeries in Poznan in Poland, Viborg in Russia and Budapest in Hungary.
“Our industry is under increasing competitive pressure to become more efficient, and constantly considering adjustments of our operations is inevitable for our future competitiveness. Consolidating our production on more modern sites will both simplify our European bakery operations and lead to increased efficiency” says Werner Devinck, CEO of Lantmännen Unibake.
Lantmännen Unibake expects to gradually close down production at the three sites during 2020. The majority of production will be consolidated at other Lantmännen Unibake bakeries in the neighboring cities or countries.
