Lantmännen's Head of Sustainability Claes Johansson at Sweden Innovation Days

News, 2024

Claes Johansson, Head of Sustainability, participated in a panel discussion on resilience and sustainability in the Swedish food system with an international outlook, together with Line Gordon, Professor at the Stockholm Resilience Center at Stockholm University and Jennie Barron, Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Other speakers during the day included Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch, and Minister for Defence Pål Jonson.

For two days, both private and public actors, startup companies as well as established ones, academia and authorities shared knowledge about how innovation can be enabled in a way that makes a difference – this year with a focus on building robust and resilient systems that will cope with increasingly reoccurring crises and disruptions. A concept of resilience that includes a breadth that extends from production and logistics to sustainable strategies and solutions for resource utilization, not least of residual streams.

“The key to a more robust and sustainable primary production is strengthened profitability and targeted investments. To create that, real commitment from both the market and the politics is required. Closing the implementation gap is at least as important as closing the innovation gap,” says Claes Johansson, Head of Sustainability, Lantmännen.

Selection of this year's speakers: Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba Busch, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson, Darja Isaksson, Director General of Vinnova, Johan Kuylenstierna, Director General of Formas.
